Soundtrack Grant

I'm not completely sure what we are to write for our proposals but here is goes.

My project is about a night of vampire hunting gone horrible wrong and then just plain weird. The mood is to be suspenseful for the first half then happyish towards the end with maybe some dramatic moments to aid with the overly dramatic scenes that will be happening.. It is a short that is really meant to be funny more than anything and full of violence and odd events. The beginning has a n overall more horror movie feel to it with a suspenseful chase scene followed my a gruesome death and the later half is meant to be sort of the opposite with odd characters starting to appear. These characters lighten the mood only to have it almost ruined then saved again. Sort of. To explain it a bit better for you, There is a vampire begin chased by an unknown adversary through a dark and misty graveyard. Once this vampire feels that he might be safe from his pursuer she strikes and after an overly dramatic death the vampire is left to rot on the ground. The slayer that killed him then leaves the scene only to see something that is completely incomprehensible to her. A woman dancing around in the middle of a graveyard where more of the blood suckers could be lurking. This strange woman comes to greet her and after a very short conversation thy are interrupted by an unfortunate turn of events that ruins the lightening mood. The slayer is slain and our poor dancer doesn't know what to do. But just as all seems lost and as the returned vampire goes to make it's move a great misfortune befalls our not so dead vampire and in the process saves the woman from certain doom. The woman overjoyed by the appearance of her savior rushes to thank him and then to celebrate proposes that they dance into the night. Which of course in this story can not be without some unexpected thing turning things upside down all over again.

As for my progress so far I have the first scene lined colored and finished except for the sound effects. I have six other scenes roughed out and once the others have also been roughly animated and all tested together to make sure everything is well done I will be ready to go in to line and color them as well. There are twenty four scenes that need to be animated and eight backgrounds that need to me made for this piece. one background is fully finished and two others are halfway done while the others are only drawn out and not yet colored.

The music that I had in mind for this piece was some simple suspenseful music to help convey the mood of being chased, then calming down once things seem to be safe and then having a dramatic point when the vampire is slain. Followed by a calmness then something a bit happier but not quite right for the introduction of the odd events that follow the vampire's "death". I was thinking it would be an odd sort of tense happiness in the second half but I am not sure how to pull that off at this point in time.

I would like to work with a musician so that I can add that extra level to my short that I feel it still needs. The music would be able to help with the mood that I am trying to convey throughout the short. I would hope that it would also help to make the piece more entertaining for the viewer as well. I thought of maybe trying to use one of the free sights to create something on my own but i fear that I am to musically challenged to be able to pull off what i am trying to achieve and would greatly appreciate the help of someone who really knows what they are doing and are up for the challenge.

The script is really rather short as there is only one scene where any talking is done.

This is the scene with the slayer and the radom woman talking after the death of the vampire.

Woman: hello.
Slayer: What the hell are you doing here! Don't you have any idea how dangerous it is!
Woman: I was dancing. Do you wish to join me?
Slayer: ......Are you completely stupid!
Woman: ummm.....behind you.
Slayer: what?

Then the slayer dies and that's really all that is said the rest of the story is told through the character acting and sound effects.

And this is the animatic.
